Mixed media & Acrylics
I had been experimenting for a while and folliowing some artists who have really inspired me. I find mixed media artwork really interesting as it gives me more freedom to express my sense of humour and I am not limited to copying every detail from a photograph, unlike my portraits. This is a completely new style for me and I love creating art this way. The scenes I depict are predominately Cornwall, but other seaside venues will appear as time goes by. Seaside scenes are my favourite theme and it makes me feel a little closer to the coast even though I am in landlocked Shropshire. My artwork uses acrylics, permanent markers and collage. Hope you enjoy my creations.
“A view of Polperro”I am inspired by the coastal villages of Cornwall. This painting is done using acrylics on canvas linen textured paper. I like painting reflections, though this one was a bit of a challenge.

“St Ives Bay (SOLD)”I am inspired by the cornish coast and St Ives is particularly beautiful. This was a new style of painting for me and started as a bit of an experiment. However, this painting has proved to be my most popular of all. The original has been sold but limited edition prints are available.

“Mousehole Harbour”I love Mousehole. It is such a quaint little seaside town. I chose this picture to paint because I loved the surf boards leaning up against the wall and the reflections of the boats in the water.
“Ready Money Cove, Fowey”Fowey is one of my favourite places to visit and we holiday there often. Ready Money Cove is a small but beautfiully formed cove which looks across to Polruan on the the opposite side of the estury.
“Padstow Harbour”Padstow is another gorgeous place to visit. I painted this in a more wimsical style with bright colours for the houses and shops. The refelction in the water is also different to how I usually approach it. Once again this painting was a bit of an experiment.
“A view of Fowey”Fowey is one of my favourite places to visit. I paint it a lot, as you will see. I use acrylics, permanent markers and collage to create this artwork. I like to add a little humour to my work and the collage pieces are always relevant to the area.
“Bobbing Along”Bobbing along on the river fowey. This painting came from a photograph I took whilst in a holiday home we rented that backed onto the river Fowey. I used acrylics, permanent markers and collage to create this piece. A sense of fun is in all of the mixed media artworks I create and they all have a cheeky seagull or two lurking ready to pinch your chips!!
“Tickled Pink (Commission piece)”This was created for my husband's niece. She visits Fowey regularly with her partner and they stay in a little pink cottage owned by a family member.
“Cornish Dreams”Another painting of St Ives. Using acrylics, permanent markers and collage. I have tried to create the atmosphere of the tide going out leaving puddles of sea water on the damp sand.
“Moments from the water”A popular view of St Ives with all its lovely shops and eateries. I used acrylics, permanent markers and collage. Once again, I have added a little of my sense of humour and lots of bright colours.
“St Ives Harbour view”This was the first mixed media piece I made. I threw everything and the kitchen sink at this one, but I think it worked! I used acrylics, permanents markers and collage. I know they have issues with seagulls at St Ives so I added a little note on the beach stating 'don't feed the birds'. There is also a large seagull lurking in the top left hand corner of the painting.

“Mevagissy Harbour”
“Boats at Sennen Cove”This painting was a little different to my usual as there are no buildings. However, I really enjoyed creating the boats from different coloured card and papers. My cheeky seagulls have made there nornal appearance.
“A seagulls View”This is quite literally a birds eye view of Porthmeor beach at St Ives. I love painting St Ives with it quaint little houses and beautiful beaches. My sister and her husband are about to move there, she said I should do more paintings of St Ives and perhaps she might be able to speak to some of the gallery owners there. What a fabulous thing that would be to have my artwork in one of there wonderful galleries.
“Red Lion at Clovelly”This painting is of The Red Lion Hotel in Clovelly which is in picturesque North Devon. I was inspired to do this artwork because we had booked a celebration weekend away there and I was so excioted that I couldn't contain myself. I used acrylics, permanent markers and collage to create this piece.

“River Fowey View”Fowey is a place that is very close to my heart. We have had holidays there for a few years now and never tire of it. There is a lovely gallery called River Fowey Gallery and they have been kind enough to invite me to exhibit some of my artwork, which is very exciting. I just had to paint Fowey once again in all its fabulous glory, with a hint of my colourful imagination.
“A Snapshot of Bridgnorth”Bridgnorth is my local town so I thought it was about time I captured it on canvas. I've added some figures in the pub window which is new for me, but I am always experimenting with different ideas. Look closely at the church spire and see where it points to.
“Across the Bridge to Bridgnorth”Another view of Bridgnorth. This is a really lovely view across the bridge over the river Severn. I really went to town with the collage on this one, but I love bridght colours.
“A view of Shropshire”This is a beautiful view of Shropshire, with its amazing rolling fields. Again I;ve gone mad with bridght collage but thats my thing. The sheep have lovely woolly jumper too.
“La vie en rose”And now for something completely different!! I wanted to go back to my roots, which is painting people. I wanted to mix it up with the mixed media and I really enjoyed doing it. The image is actually of my husbands neice, however, she does not have pink hair!
“Feeling Blue”Another image of my husbands niece, taken from her modelling portfolio. I have decided to give her a blue rinse on this one, I hope she doesn't mind!
